Ted: our conservative values are under siege

I just got off the debate stage where I proved I'm the only one who will stand up for our conservative values.

I have something very important to say to my opponents: don't tell me...SHOW ME! 

Don't tell me you oppose Obamacare; SHOW ME where you stood up and led to defeat it!

Don't tell me you oppose amnesty; SHOW ME where you led the fight against it!

Don't tell me you support life and marriage and religious liberty; SHOW ME where you stood and fought to defend the Constitution.

Please let me explain. Tonight -- rather than interview for the most important job in America -- my opponents talked in circles treating this debate like a P.T. Barnum & Company three-ring-circus.

You see, Friend: our conservative values are under siege, and I want you to join me in drawing a line in the sand...because we cannot afford to get this election wrong.

Historic Victory at Standing Rock Calls for Celebration and Vigilance For the last eight months, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has led a historic campaign against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL), uniting hundreds of tribes, environmentalists, veterans and other activists inspired by their bold stand in defense of native treaty rights and the environment.   On Sunday, millions of people around the world celebrated news that the Army Corps of Engineers had rejected an easement to allow DAPL to go forward. This was an enormous victory for the movement and for ordinary people everywhere in the struggle against Big Oil and naked corporate greed. I congratulate and thank these courageous indigenous people and all others who rallied behind their cause, including the veteran activists who came to strengthen the camp in the days preceding the Army Corps’ ruling. Jon: Let it go to waste

robert - President Obama is right: many of the same voices urging the United States to reject the deal with Iran in favor of a military approach were some of the loudest voices in favor of war with Iraq. Congress is home for recess now, and we need to make sure they hear your voice before returning to D.C. to take a vote. So far over 100,000 veterans, military family members, and VoteVets supporters have taken action on this issue - add your name to theirs today:  Tell Congress: vote for the negotiated deal that is our best chance to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon The vote can go either way at this point so every Representative and every Senator that comes out in favor of the deal is a major victory. He was pretty quick to attack Donald Trump for his despicable attacks on John McCain's service, but actually wrote a letter THANKING the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in 2005. "As someone who truly understands the risk of standing up for something, I simply cannot express in words how much I value their willingness to stand up against John Kerry"  - Jeb Bush letter to a Swift Boat Veteran supporter on January 19, 2005 Attacking a veteran's service is a core part of Republican's playbook. NASA's New Horizons interplanetary probe has been making its way to Pluto since January 19, 2006, and has been providing the world with the sharpest photos ever seen of our Solar System's most prominent "dwarf planet." Jon: Call on the Department of Defense, Congress, and Governors across the country

robert - I've spent a lot of time thinking over the past few days about the four Marines who lost their lives in a mass shooting at a Naval Reserve Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I've thought quite a bit about the fact those Marines weren't shot and killed in Iraq or Afghanistan, but lost their lives here at home on a military installation. This isn't new. We should have seen it coming after the attack in Little Rock and attempted attack on Fort Dix. And it's caused me to wonder what the Department of Defense and Congress can do to keep our men and women in uniform from falling victim to similar attacks in the future? Right now, there is no doubt, ISIS and other terror groups would like nothing more than to keep shooting up military installations, and killing troops. • They openly encourage terrorists to exploit the Gun Show Loophole, to buy weapons, legally. • They take advantage of the fact that being on the No Fly List doesn't mean they get flagged ...

He was referencing their attempts to manipulate legislation, but we all know what these groups are best at --  using their vast resources to buy influence in elections. The Koch brothers. Karl Rove. Since  Citizens United , these guys have become household names. Combined, their affiliated special interest groups spent more than $212 million in the 2012 elections -- and they've already got a decent start on the 2014 elections, too. Dear Robert, What if there was a magic button that could overturn  Citizens United , get the word “SuperPAC” out of our national vocabulary, and drive shady money out of our political system forever? Wouldn’t you push the heck out of that button? Me, too. But there’s no such button. All we can do is fight as hard as we can to limit the influence of big money -- and one important step we can take is passing the DISCLOSE Act, a bill that would force special interest groups to tell us who’s funding their political activities.
