Dear robert,
Back in February, we launched a search for the best BBQ sauces to become the official sauces of the 2012 Democratic National Convention. We were looking for the best sauce in three different categories that represent the different regions of the Carolinas – a western North Carolina tomato-based sauce, an eastern North Carolina vinegar-based sauce, and a South Carolina mustard-based sauce.
We were excited to receive 30 different sauce submissions from around the country. The sauces ranged from homemade to nationally recognized brands.
After the sauce submission deadline, we gathered a group of qualified BBQ judges – including myself – to help us pick a winner in each category.

Russ: women across the country -- don't deserve unnecessary attacks

Robert -- This is indefensible. This week, Governor Scott Walker signed two bills that would take millions of dollars in funding from Planned Parenthood. These bills are a clear attack on a woman's right to affordable, quality health care. Governor Walker and Senator Ron Johnson threaten the lives of women every time they take steps to defund Planned Parenthood. In fact, Senator Johnson last year supported a 20-week abortion ban and voted again to defund Planned Parenthood. These attacks on women's health are wrong. Robert, You need to see these new polls showing our Democratic Senate majority in serious jeopardy. My friends Sens. Mark Pryor, Mark Udall and Mark Begich are all polling within single digits – and if they lose their re-election fights, our majority is gone. Pryor barely leads Rep. Tom Cotton, a Tea Party darling backed by right-wing groups like the Club for Growth who’ve already spent $1.8 million smearing Mark. Udall polls just three points ahead of extremist Ken Buck. Bob: put an end to these unfair subsidies

Robert, This makes my blood boil:  Each year, taxpayers spend BILLIONS of dollars subsidizing big oil and gas companies! These companies don’t need taxpayer dollars, period. In 2013 alone, the Big Five oil companies posted profits of $93 BILLION. But that didn’t stop the industry from lining its pockets with BILLIONS of your tax dollars that same year. No wonder the Big Five oil companies were able to pay their CEOs $125 million last year alone. What’s more, even as these often-negligent companies walk away with your hard-earned money, they pollute our air and water, hurting our families and damaging our environment! Robert, This holiday season, we can’t balance the budget on the backs of hungry kids and veterans. But that’s exactly what my opponent, Congressman Tom Cotton, and his reckless colleagues are out to do. The only farm bill they’ll pass cuts $40 billion from food assistance, forcing groups like children, active-duty service members and even veterans who’ve bravely served this nation to go hungry. Millions of transgender people still face discrimination

    Friend, did you see the news? One of my first actions as a Congresswoman was to display a transgender pride flag outside my office. I did so to show the trans community -- which includes friends and family of mine -- that they are seen, heard, and not erased. Today, we must recommit our efforts toward protecting the rights of transgender Americans. Dangerous misinformation has been amplified by right-wing politicians and media figures, resulting in a disturbing series of state legislative actions across the country that target the healthcare and well-being of trans youth. Last month, I was named a co-chair of the Transgender Equality Task Force, an arm of the Congressional LGTBQ+ Equality Caucus that is advocating for legislative and administrative action to ensure that the trans community is treated with dignity and respect.
