Don't let this election be the moment our children or grandchildren point to as when it all started to unravel.

Because without a Senate firewall, some Republicans would seize it as the moment to end Social Security forever, gut Medicare benefits for more tax giveaways, and instantly repeal our historic health care reform.

Our margin for error is so slim. If we lose just 4 of the 23 Democratic seats up this cycle, Republicans will have free rein in Washington. The DSCC needs $235,000 before midnight Friday to defend those seats.

Future generations are counting on us. Nothing less than maximum effort will prevent us from careening down the wrong track. Fully 90% of the DSCC’s contributions come from the grassroots, and I know they need every last nickel.

I’ve seen the worst the other side can do.

But the sad, cruel truth is that the attack ads and the smear campaigns work – if we don’t fight back. The DSCC relies on the fiery passion of the grassroots to give our Senate candidates everything they need to fight back.

Fail, and we cede the megaphone and the whole playing field to the most radical voices that keep on saying America can’t get the job done.

When "Celebrity Apprentice" returns to NBC in 2017, Donald Trump will still be executive producer of the show. This is an unprecedented moment, where  one of the largest media conglomerates in the world, Comcast/NBCUniversal, for all intents and purposes, will have a contractual arrangement with the president of the United States.  It creates a clear conflict of interest that undermines the credibility of NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC and makes it impossible to trust that any reporting on Trump has not been impacted by this business entanglement.
