HILLARY CLINTON: PENNSYLVANIA

Dear Robert,

Thanks to you, we won a critically important victory tonight in Pennsylvania. It's a giant step forward that will transform the landscape of the presidential race. And it couldn't have happened without you.

There will be much more to do beginning tomorrow. But tonight, let's just celebrate the fact that you and I are part of a remarkable community of people tough enough, passionate enough, and determined enough to win big when everything is on the line.

Thanks so much for all you do.

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

Elizabeth: three of the closest tossup Senate races

Image
Robert, I was just in Colorado and Iowa with Mark Udall and Bruce Braley over the weekend, and let me tell you: The people there are fighting their hearts out. We all have to do absolutely the same if we want to keep the majority in the Senate. I know you're probably getting a TON of emails right now from tight campaigns all across the country (I am too.) But I wanted to recommend three of the closest tossup Senate races in the country -- three campaigns where every dollar could make a difference: Iowa Democrat Bruce Braley is down by four points in one poll and up just one in another. Alaska Democrat Mark Begich is down by 2-6 points in the four most recent polls. And Colorado Democrat Mark Udall is in a dead heat in the most recent poll. All three of them are getting slammed by vicious attack ads from powerful Super PACs. Republicans know that if we lose Iowa, Alaska, and Colorado two weeks from now, our chances of keeping the Democratic majority in the S...

Violence against women is one of the most demonic forces on earth

Image
Dear Black Independent, During this year’s Women’s History month, I’ve been thinking less about history made by women who came before us and more about the history we are making now. To women fifty and a hundred years from now, we will be the ones looked back on as the women who made history. Women having achieved power unimagined in former times, people will look back at this time and say we did it! But let’s do more than have them say that we did it; let’s make sure they can say that we did it well. This year, during Women’s History month, let’s not simply celebrate the past; let’s dedicate ourselves more deeply to a better future for all. Let’s not just celebrate the power we’ve gained; let’s think ever more deeply how to use our power for the greater good. Especially let’s not forget the women around the world who are not as fortunate as we. Violence against women is one of the most demonic forces on earth, and always has been. Around the world each day, thousands of wom...

Bob: put an end to these unfair subsidies

Image
Robert, This makes my blood boil:  Each year, taxpayers spend BILLIONS of dollars subsidizing big oil and gas companies! These companies don’t need taxpayer dollars, period. In 2013 alone, the Big Five oil companies posted profits of $93 BILLION. But that didn’t stop the industry from lining its pockets with BILLIONS of your tax dollars that same year. No wonder the Big Five oil companies were able to pay their CEOs $125 million last year alone. What’s more, even as these often-negligent companies walk away with your hard-earned money, they pollute our air and water, hurting our families and damaging our environment! Remember the BP/Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico? We need to put an end to these unfair subsidies.   Add your name: Tell Congress to stop unfair tax giveaways for Big Oil! The other sad thing is that these loopholes aren’t new. Some of them have been on the books for 100 years! Big Oil companies have had a century of taxpayer mo...

Adam: didn't have email in 1991

Image
Friend, In a moment, I'm going to ask if you can donate to support my campaign, but first I wanted to tell you the story of how I lost my first two elections and why I decided to run for Congress in the first place. I first ran for the California State Assembly in 1991, and I lost. Badly. I tried again in 1994, and got a little bit closer, but still, there are no prizes for second place in politics. But I persisted. Why? Because I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to serve my community, my state, and ultimately the nation, and I thought elected office was one way I could do that. Flash forward to 1996, the third time was the charm and I was elected to the State Senate. I was able to pass bills to improve health care and education, help constituents get what they needed, and serve on committees that were actually doing something. It was a great job, and I loved it. That's when my constituents encouraged me to challenge a Republican House incumbent in a ...

Now the NRA is trying to make an example out of Angela

Image
robert,     Angela Giron listened to the people of Colorado after the tragic shootings in Aurora and Newtown. The state senator bravely cast the deciding vote for commonsense gun safety legislation in Colorado six months ago. Now the NRA is trying to make an example out of Angela. They've spent $361,703 on a recall campaign to kick her out of office.  Protesters have even used extreme tactics to bully and intimidate her.  Angela's recall election is next week -- and she urgently needs our help. It's times like these in Colorado where the EMILY's List community can make a real difference for our candidates. Make a contribution to EMILY's List right now to help show what we can do.   Angela Giron is an EMILY's List Political Opportunity Program alumna and has stood up for women and families during her 30 years in public service. As a state senator, she's fought to pass...

John: honor of my life to lead two Apache platoons

Please find a special message from one of our advertisers, John James for Senate, Inc.     Friend, I'm a husband, father, former Army Captain and combat veteran, businessman, and conservative Republican outsider.   My name is John James, and I'm running for United States Senate on behalf of all Michiganders.     Since I launched my campaign last month, we've had an outpouring of support from across the state, and our momentum continues to build.  We're seeing our passionate, conservative online grassroots community come through in a big way.   Join your Michigan neighbors fighting for real change – chip in any amount >> Donations to our campaign are piling up because people see the failures of Washington, and they want real change, not re-branded professional politicians who will tell you what you want to hear on the campaign trail, then fall in line with their special interest patrons whe...

Donna: How are you going to pay for it?

Image
robert, Medicare is a contract we have made with every person in this country since it was signed into law 50 years ago today. That if you work hard, do your part, then when you retire Medicare is there to have your back. Through the appointments, the check ups, the medications, and anything else you might need. But Republicans want to break that contract and put the healthcare of over 50 million Americans in danger.  They want to tell seniors we don’t have the money. Find your healthcare somewhere else. You know that security you were promised? Take a hike. Republicans are falling over themselves with new plans every day to phase out and cut Medicare. Tell them you’re ready to fight back. Add your name and join me in saying you will never let Republicans cut Medicare. Here’s the question they inevitably ask next: “How are you going to pay for it?” Ha! That’s easy. Pay for it with the billions of dollars that have been sent offshore. Pay for it with the subsid...

Stephanie Schriock: Senate is scheduled to vote on renewing the Violence Against Women Act

Image
Dear robert, Frankly, I'm disgusted that I even have to write this message. You would think that if any issue was safe from political posturing, it would be violence against women. But no. Next week, the Senate is scheduled to vote on renewing the Violence Against Women Act, and Republicans can't stop playing politics for a single day on an issue this important.  Many, many Republicans in Congress have announced their opposition to renewing the Act -- including some of those running against our women. This vote could actually be close. It's enough to make me want to throw up my hands and scream. But that won't help the women who need the protections in this law. What will help them? Showing them that we're standing together to protect women's health and safety. The vote is coming soon, so we need you to act right now. Click here to tell Republicans to stop playing politics with women's lives. Since President Clinton first signed it, the Violence ...
