Kirsten: I know why Comey was fired

Robert, over the last 48 hours, we’ve continued to learn what led President Trump to fire FBI Director James Comey. And every new revelation increases the seriousness of the crisis we face.   Comey had reportedly requested more resources from the Department of Justice to investigate the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Russia. It isn’t hard to connect the dots to what happened next: President Trump wanted this all to go away, so he fired Comey.   This is an extreme takeover of one of our country’s most powerful institutions. Toward the end of May, five shadowy outside groups announced they planned to spend over $3 million on TV in the coming weeks to prop up Tom Cotton. The  Citizens United  ruling opened the floodgates to out-of-state billionaires – you know their names – and they’re wasting no time trying to drown out the voices of Arkansans. Al: Between 1977 and 1980, members of the U.S Armed Forces were exposed to nuclear waste.

robert, Between 1977 and 1980, thousands of members of the U.S Armed Forces were given a duty: Help clean up nuclear test sites in the Marshall Islands. Dressed in t-shirts, shorts, and boots (aka, without protective gear), those service members did their job. Now, about 40 years later, many of those brave men and women face serious health problems. Cancer rates among these veterans is around 35 percent.  And for some reason, they cannot get the compensation they have earned. Congress needs to step up.  Veterans who become ill because they did their duty to this nation should have access to the quality health care they need. They’ve earned it. Robert, Exactly one year ago today, Wendy Davis took an epic, 11-hour stand before the Texas Senate, filibustering Governor Rick Perry’s extreme anti-women bill. Wendy’s stand launched a movement, pushing us all to consider the big question:  What do we stand for? One year later,  Wendy is fighting to become the first Democratic governor of Texas in decades,  and the jeers from Republican extremists have morphed into even more outlandish, sexist attacks (remember “Abortion Barbie”?).
