Donna: How are you going to pay for it?

Medicare is a contract we have made with every person in this country since it was signed into law 50 years ago today.

That if you work hard, do your part, then when you retire Medicare is there to have your back. Through the appointments, the check ups, the medications, and anything else you might need.

But Republicans want to break that contract and put the healthcare of over 50 million Americans in danger. They want to tell seniors we don’t have the money. Find your healthcare somewhere else. You know that security you were promised? Take a hike.

Republicans are falling over themselves with new plans every day to phase out and cut Medicare. Tell them you’re ready to fight back. Add your name and join me in saying you will never let Republicans cut Medicare.

Here’s the question they inevitably ask next: “How are you going to pay for it?”

Ha! That’s easy.

Pay for it with the billions of dollars that have been sent offshore. Pay for it with the subsidies that they are handing out to oil and gas companies. Pay for it by holding Wall Street accountable for rigging the game against middle class families.

In fact, if we did that, we could strengthen and expand Medicare to cover even more Americans.

But we’ve seen how the right wing lies, distorts the numbers, and uses every argument in the book to try to convince the American people it’s time for cuts. Well, I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time to hold them accountable. Are you with me? Will you stand up for Medicare and the over 50 million Americans who rely on this program every day?
