I deployed to Iraq as a United States Marine in 2005. I cleared houses, fought insurgents, and lost friends.

Not too long after I returned, I signed up to serve as VoteVets' Arizona State Captain.

When i decided to run for State Representative, VoteVets was there for me. And that support continued through my recent election to the U.S. House of Representatives.

My story is not entirely unique: VoteVets has helped elect dozens of veteran leaders at all levels of government. And this year, they face their biggest challenge yet: electing Tammy Duckworth and Jason Kander to the U.S. Senate.

  IJ won an early and important victory for property owners this week when a California federal judge issued a difficult to obtain temporary restraining order preventing the government’s   shameless theft   of our clients’ life savings.   Please   join IJ with a donation today   and help us challenge—and end—even more outrageous abuses of government power. The FBI raided the Beverly Hills company U.S. Private Vaults, where property owners from across southern California store their cash, jewelry, and other valuables in safe deposit boxes. I helped found a women's rights club at my middle school, and now my classmates and I are standing up for equality. That’s why I’m supporting the ballot initiative to raise Arkansas’ minimum wage to $8.50 an hour. It has been more than seven years since the state minimum wage was raised – years that included the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, even as the cost of living continued to climb. Colleen: a grand jury has indicted two of the videos’ creators.

Friend, Republicans can’t resist putting women’s private medical decisions front-and-center in our national discourse. So when they saw a deceptively edited Planned Parenthood video last September, we all could have predicted what would happen. Republicans used those videos to justify attempts to withhold Planned Parenthood’s funding and tie up budget talks.  They almost brought our government to a screeching halt. Now, after clearing Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing,  a grand jury has indicted two of the videos’ creators. They’re facing misdemeanor and felony charges. I’m fighting to get to Congress to protect women’s access to healthcare against extremists who will stop at nothing to take it away. Can you help me get there by giving $5 or $10? Robert, There are many election forecasts out there, but they are all saying the same thing:  the battle for the Senate is going to be incredibly close. That means protecting our Democratic majority will come down to taking full advantage of every single opportunity that presents itself. Dear Friend, I’m just back from the Green Party Annual National Meeting in Newark, NJ, where I endorsed powerhouse Seth Kaper-Dale in his run for Governor.  As one of only two governor races this year, Seth's run in  2017’s biggest election  is a breakthrough moment for Greens everywhere.  The “Sopranos” state’s 2-party mafia is strong-arming Seth into raising $430,000 by August 31st in order to get in to the debates and to receive matching funds. That’s more than four times the $100,000 I had to raise to qualify for federal matching funds in my run for president! It's no wonder they're trying to keep Seth's formidable voice out of the debates. If this giant of social justice is heard, politics will never be the same - and not just in New Jersey. Dear robert, Frankly, I'm disgusted that I even have to write this message. You would think that if any issue was safe from political posturing, it would be violence against women. But no. Next week, the Senate is scheduled to vote on renewing the Violence Against Women Act, and Republicans can't stop playing politics for a single day on an issue this important.  Many, many Republicans in Congress have announced their opposition to renewing the Act -- including some of those running against our women. This vote could actually be close. It's enough to make me want to throw up my hands and scream. But that won't help the women who need the protections in this law. What will help them?
