Dear Robert, We did it! In this incredible year, we have changed our politics, our country and our nation! And I could not be more proud or more grateful to you for sharing this journey with me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for everything you have done, for me, for Barack Obama , and for all our Democratic candidates, to make these successes possible. I know that President-Elect Barack Obama will lead our country in the new direction we need. And with the great success of our House and Senate candidates, we can make our agenda a reality. But make no mistake -- our work is not done! I will be doing everything I can in the Senate, working closely with the White House on the goals you and I set out. With President Obama and our strengthened majorities in Congress, we can get our economy back on track. We're going to make sure every man, woman, and child in America has health care. With smart, effective new policies, we will move toward energy inde...
Friend -- The President and congressional leaders reached an agreement last night to meet our financial obligations and reduce our deficit. Many people will have lots to say about this deal -- but the President wanted to talk to you directly. Watch the video: http://my.barackobama.com/Debt-Agreement Please share this video with everyone you know. Thanks, Messina Jim Messina Campaign Manager Obama for America
Tuesday, July 16, 2013 Share this: Immigration reform means great things for the economy Now that lawmakers in the Senate have come together to pass a bipartisan piece of legislation to fix our broken immigration system, it's up to the House of Representatives to do the same. And that makes this the perfect time to learn more about the issue. In the days ahead, those members of Congress have to make a choice about the right way to reform immigration -- or if they want to proceed at all. As the national debate begins in earnest, we want to make sure you have information you need to answer questions in your community. So check out this video, then share it so that people know that immigration reform makes a ton of sense for the economy. http://ww...
Friend -- I wanted to make sure you saw the news: Today President Obama announced a common-sense policy change that will make our immigration system fairer and smarter. I'm proud to support it, and I hope you are, too. Under the administration's guidance, immigration courts are going to focus on deporting people who have been convicted of crimes or who pose a security risk. This means that the courts will focus less on "low-priority" cases -- like young people who were brought here as small children and know no other home, or veterans and military spouses. So the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice will be reviewing the current deportation caseload, clearing out low-priority cases, and making sure they don't get into the system in the first place -- keeping the focus on cases that will make our country safer. It's a smart, strategic change. And it will make a difference. But more comprehensive change requires Congress to act. ...
The President is touring through Alaska this week, meeting with residents of the state and seeing the effects of climate change on the ground. He's sharing what he sees along the way. Read his entry from yesterday below, and follow along with the trip here . Hi, everyone — checking in on day two. Right off the bat, I’ll note that I’ve got to come back here once I’m done being President. You just can’t see Alaska in three days. I spent the day hiking through Exit Glacier in the Kenai Fjords National Park — where the mountains collide with the ocean and fields of ice. When the team handed over the camera, I did my best to do this place justice: Visitors from around the world come here to see its Harding Icefield — one of the largest ice fields in the United States — covering hundreds of square miles. As the climate warms, glaciers are shrinking more and more rapidly — and throughout the park, there are signs marking where the glacier line used to be. This is as goo...
Friend -- Today I asked for a joint session of Congress where I will lay out a clear plan to get Americans back to work. Next week, I will deliver the details of the plan and call on lawmakers to pass it. Whether they will do the job they were elected to do is ultimately up to them. But both you and I can pressure them to do the right thing. We can send the message that the American people are playing by the rules and meeting their responsibilities -- and it's time for our leaders in Congress to meet theirs. And we must hold them accountable if they don't. So I'm asking you to stand with me in calling on Congress to step up and take action on jobs: http://my.barackobama.com/Time-To-Act No matter how things go in the weeks and months ahead, this will be an important challenge for our organization. It's been a long time since Congress was focused on what the American people need them to be focused on. I know that you're frustrated by that. I am, too....
Black — Lowe’s and Home Depot are taking a deadly chemical off their shelves. They made the decision after people like you took to Change.org demanding they take action to save lives. Now, with your signature, you can convince Ace Hardware to do the same. Take a moment to read the amazing story behind two inspiring victories and then add your name to the latest petition in a movement to keep a lethal chemical out of our homes: “No family should have to lose a loved one because of deadly chemicals. Period.” Those are the words Cindy and Hal Wynne used to start their petition after the death of their son, Drew. What started off as an unimaginable tragedy launched their mission to ban deadly chemicals sitting on store shelves across the country. Drew, like countless people before him, was able to walk into Lowe’s home improvement store and buy a paint stripper containing the dangerous chemical methylene chloride. Lowe’...
Dear Robert, As a Senator, a lot of my job involves talking to people. But the most important part of my job is listening . That's why I've held more than 215 community roundtable discussions - including at least one in each of Ohio's 88 counties. What issues are most important to you? Take our survey and let me know. There are issues swirling around Washington that will make a difference not just for us, but for our children and their children. How are we going to return student loan interest rates back to normal levels? How are we going to end the corrosive influence of Citizens United in our elections? How are we going to create jobs and grow our economy? How do we protect access to healthcare for women and families? I know that some of these issues will affect you more than others. And I want to know which ones are at the top of your list. Take our quick survey, and let me know which issues matter most to y...
Friend -- As someone who got his start as a community organizer, President Obama's entire career has revolved around the idea that ordinary people working together can do extraordinary things. So I hope you can take part in marking his 50th birthday next week in the way he would appreciate most: with a solid showing of grassroots action in every corner of the country. This Wednesday, August 3rd, campaign volunteers will get together for house meetings in all 50 states. We'll plan local events, strategize about how to grow the campaign in our communities, and talk about how to spread the word about the President's accomplishments to our friends and neighbors. Best of all, folks will also have the chance to join an exclusive live video conference with President Obama at their house meeting. Can you attend a house meeting in Fort Smith? Here are the details: What: House meeting for President Obama's 50th birthday Where: Fort Smith, AR 72901 When: Wednesda...
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! Governor Newsom has received a lot of feedback on his recent social media posts on Twitter and TikTok. Democrats love it. Fox News cries about it relentlessly. But what they don't get is the irony of it all -- that it is putting a mirror up to the absurdity of Donald Trump. Watch this clip from Colbert last night. Thank you, Team Newsom
