Michelle: When I reflect on the progress we’ve made

Friend, it is absolutely critical we elect a Democratic Senate -- so today I’m asking you to support Democratic candidates across this country who share our values.

When I reflect on the progress we’ve made these past eight years -- bringing healthcare to 20 million people, helping businesses create millions of new jobs, making college affordable for so many young people, and so much more -- I remember who made it all possible.

It was grassroots Democrats like you who came together to move our country forward. And over the next five days, I’m counting on you to do it again.

Why I filibustered for gun violence prevention Friend --  I was the Congressman from Newtown, Connecticut when tragedy struck Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14th, 2012. As long as I live, I’ll never forget the scene at the firehouse when twenty-six families were told they would not be reunited with their children and loved ones.  For years, Congress has failed those families and the victims of gun violence all across the country.  That is why yesterday, starting at 11:21 a.m., I decided to stand on the Senate floor and talk for as long as I could about the need to prevent gun violence. Katie: let’s think about those we lost and extend our sympathies to the families

Friends, The deadly act of terrorism in Orlando last night is a national tragedy felt by all of us. Today, I extend a special thought and prayer to the families of those killed and injured. This is the worst mass shooting in American history — but it is not the first. It’s one more heartbreaking reminder that hatred and violence leads us to grief and sadness. It’s one more reminder that things must change. This morning, after hearing the news, I marched in the Pittsburgh LGBT Pride Parade. It was a heartening moment to be among so many people — of all orientations, genders, and backgrounds — coming together after such a tragedy. This is the spirit we must look to. There is still much to be learned about what happened and why, but today let’s think about those we lost and extend our sympathies to the families of Orlando. Thank you, Katie

Well guest what? 2016 saw the highest participation rate of Christian voters in recent history. That's an incredible achievement that would not have been possible without you. robert - Having devoted significant years of our lives to the security of the United States, we are very concerned by proposals for oil and gas leasing in U.S. Arctic waters. Offshore drilling the Department of Interior is considering there would place additional demands on our military and move national energy policy in an unstable direction. Please send a message to the Department of the Interior by signing this petition indicating your opposition to opening more U.S. Arctic waters to offshore drilling. Global warming is degrading the Arctic ice cap, encouraging increased shipping and potentially other commercial activity. This greater activity means we need to better police our remote Arctic Ocean border, enhancing our military presence there with new icebreakers, patrol vessels, and onshore facilities.
