Jeanne: Last cycle, the Kochs, the .00001%, raised more than $400 million to pour into elections.
Money can buy the Koch brothers everything but happiness and the U.S. Senate – but that won’t stop them from trying, right here in New Hampshire.
Democrats are defending 21 seats, and New Hampshire could very well be the one to determine who holds the majority. The Koch-led right believes it can beat me because I’m the only Democrat elected to the Senate from New Hampshire in three decades.
Already, $900,000 has been spent attacking me, $700,000 of it from the Kochs this year alone.
And I’m not alone. My colleagues, Senators Begich, Hagan, Pryor, and Mark Udall have taken the brunt of the Kochs’ $22 million, which will be followed by tens of millions more. I’m standing with them to fight back, and I need you to join us.
Add your name to our petition and send a message to the Kochs: the Senate isn’t for sale.
You don’t even have to take my word for it. Here’s what Politico had to say: “If the Koch brothers’ political operation seemed ambitious in 2010 or 2012, wait for what’s in store for 2014 and beyond.”
Last cycle, the Kochs, the .00001%, raised more than $400 million to pour into elections.
This is wrong. Elections are a chance for you to set our policy and vote your priorities, but they don’t work if the Kochs can spend unlimited sums to drown you out.
As much as they spent in 2012, things didn’t work out for the Kochs – it’s because we had more grassroots support. Let the Kochs know you’re back in.
Thank you for standing with my colleagues and me.
It means a lot,
Jeanne
