Florida voting rights are under attack

Robert,

After years of fear-mongering and false claims of election fraud, Governor DeSantis has now taken his anti-democracy agenda a step further by signing into law a bill that makes it even easier for Republicans to suppress the votes of the elderly, minority voters, and Democrats around the state in 2022 and beyond. They have shown again and again that they will stop at nothing to stack the deck in their own favor. We can’t let them continue these efforts.

If Republicans can’t win elections without playing dirty (like making it a crime to give water to voters waiting in line at the polls) they have no business leading our state. Our leaders should be concerned with improving the lives of working Floridians and tackling real life-or-death issues like unemployment. Meanwhile, all DeSantis and his GOP cronies seem to care about is supporting the dangerous lies of their mentor, Donald Trump.

I firmly believe that our right to vote is sacred. That’s why I led the charge to pass two bills, SB 706 and SB 798, which would have reduced bureaucratic red tape and financial obstacles in the voter registration process so that all eligible Floridians can exercise their right to vote. Even though Republicans blocked both of these common-sense bills, I want you to know that I will keep fighting until every eligible Floridian is guaranteed the right to vote.

As we speak, dark money Republican special interest groups like the Koch Brothers are pumping money into voter suppression efforts across the state of Florida, but together, we can take our power back. Donate today to help power our fight to bring real voting rights — and real change — to Florida!

Yours in the fight,
