Kirsten: amazing Senate challengers
Robert,
If you care about equal pay for women, raising the minimum wage and protecting Social Security and Medicare, I need you to support three amazing Senate challengers to keep the Senate blue.
- Alison Lundergan Grimes was down by just one point, 43-42, in a recent Wenzel Strategies poll, but the Kochs and Rove have responded with a big money onslaught. Fight back for Alison, and we will have a strong advocate for affordable childcare, equal pay and raising the minimum wage.
- Michelle Nunn works tirelessly to empower struggling families, but GOP outside interest groups are inundating Georgia with misleading attack ads. Recent polls show single-digit races between Michelle and her Republican competitors. We must support Michelle – we cannot lose this seat to the Tea Party!
- Natalie Tennant has a solid record of holding lawmakers fiscally accountable and creating opportunities for veterans. She has managed to cut her opponent's lead in half since she announced her candidacy – to within single digits! – but right-wing dollars are flooding into West Virginia. Natalie needs our help holding onto a critical Democratic seat.
There are only 12 Republican incumbents whose Senate seats are up for reelection this year, and the GOP needs just an additional six to take our majority. We can absolutely win these three races – the numbers show it. But right-wing special interests see the same polls, and they are going to pour every dollar they have into swinging these races.
Now more than ever, we need to bolster these women with all the resources we can. Please join me by helping them raise $32,000 in the next 96 hours.
The Koch brothers and their Super PAC have already spent $22 million on TV ads aiming for a Senate takeover, and they stand poised to dump millions more into races. During the 2012 election cycle, the Kochs' network raised at least $407 million.
And despite women making up 51 percent of the population, 25 states have still never elected a woman to the Senate – including Kentucky, Georgia and West Virginia. In all three of these elections, we have a chance to change the face of Congress, but Alison, Natalie and Michelle can’t overcome the Kochs without our help.
We need these inspiring women in the Senate, but they urgently need us to help them win.
Your support means everything.
