Paul: Elkhorn man recalls his role in civil rights marches

CONSTITUENT HOTLINE 1-888-909-RYAN (7926)   Congress had the honor of hosting the foot soldiers of the 1965 Voting Rights Marches and presenting them with a  Congressional Gold Medal  . It was not just what they did, but how they did it. As they gathered in the U.S. Capitol, these men and women shared memories of their peaceful march from Selma to Montgomery, their fight for the right to vote and how they challenged America to live up to its principles of freedom, liberty, and equal rights for all. One of those Foot Soldiers honored was a man named Paul Simpson. Paul Ryan from Janesville, WI had the honor of meeting Paul Simpson, now of Elkhorn, WI. They talked about the marches and their lives in Wisconsin.  Reflecting on his place in history, Paul Simpson said, “I feel good about it.” And he always exercises the right he sacrificed so much for, voting in every local, state, and national election. Robert -- UNBELIEVABLE:  You absolutely must check out this ridiculous ad attacking Bernie that the National Republican Congressional Committee is running against DFA-endorsed Congressional candidate Zephyr Teachout: Cracks about Birkenstocks and "zany professors" aside, Republicans must be really out of touch if they think tying progressive champions to Bernie Sanders is going to hurt them. According to a poll by the Economist and YouGov earlier this week, Bernie Sanders has a 53.6% favorability rating. He's more popular than any other politician in the survey, including billionaire bigot Donald Trump. And Bernie's positions on crucial issues like stopping the TPP, expanding social security and making billionaires pay their fair share are extremely popular, too -- even with Republican voters! Robert – Yesterday, Rick Santorum said that the separation of church and state “makes me want to throw up.” -- Santorum also said this weekend that President Obama is a “snob” for his vision to provide every child access to higher education. Santorum said these are places where people become indoctrinated by liberal professors. -- On Friday, Mitt Romney promised to cut taxes on the wealthiest Americans another 20% . He then tried “connecting” with Michigan voters by telling them that his wife owns “a couple of Cadillacs.” These are radical ideas. It would be easy to write them off as the rantings of the right-wing fringe, but polls show these men could win.
