Patrick: protect Social Security
Good Morning,
I’ve spent the past few months traveling all across Florida. There’s one common theme I hear in every community I visit: Protect Social Security.
Republicans continue to attack Social Security. Their presidential candidates want to raise the retirement age. Their leaders in Congress set up a funding crisis for the program.
They call those “reforms.” I call it breaking a promise to our seniors.
Social Security turns 80 this year. I want to use this occasion to redouble our efforts to protect the program.

For 80 years, Social Security has protected American seniors from falling into poverty. Ninety percent of people 65 or older get some of their family income from Social Security.
In Florida, Social Security lifts 1.2 million seniors out of poverty -- the second highest in the nation. Without Social Security benefits, an estimated 44% of elderly Americans nationwide would have incomes below the poverty line.
Seniors I’ve spoken to rely on Social Security every day. They’re worried that if their benefits get cut, they’ll have to choose between meals and medicines.
I have always fought to protect Social Security -- and that’s exactly what I plan to do in the Senate.Sign on to stand with me and America’s seniors in the fight to protect Social Security.
Thank you.
Patrick
