You've probably heard -- Louisiana's U.S. Senate race didn't end on Election Day.

In fact, it is headed to a runoff election next month.

Now, the Obama Democrats are putting everything they have left into a desperate, vengeful effort to lock Republicans out of a final, critical gain in the Senate -- and bring 3-term incumbent liberal Democrat Mary Landrieu and her 97% record of support for Barack Obama's disastrous agenda.

The extra election takes place on December 6th -- just one month from now. To win, my friend and fellow physician Dr. Bill Cassidy needs all the help he can get. I urge you to step forward and support his runoff campaign by making a generous donation right away!

Robert, A group of irresponsible Tea Partiers in the House has decided their ideological agenda is more important than having a functional government. This is not the position of a majority of Democrats and Republicans, but a stubborn minority has brought us to the brink of disaster. New Hampshire families are already hurting as a result of this shutdown. Small businesses are going without crucial government loans and losing business from tourists they depend on. If this continues, it will hurt everything from education to housing. We can’t let that happen. When I was governor, I learned about the value of focusing on solutions over ideology.  We need to do the same now. We need to send the message that American families come first. Robert, We had another strong performance at the debate tonight in Fayetteville. Once again, we showed where Tom Cotton's priorities lie: With the out-of-state billionaires bankrolling his campaign. This year, his backers have spent over $20 million trying to buy this election. Why?  Because they know they can count on Tom Cotton. That's the difference in this race. Robert, For a while now we’ve warned that the dark money pouring into Arkansas to buy this Senate seat would only get worse – and now it has. Toward the end of May, five shadowy outside groups announced they planned to spend over $3 million on TV in the coming weeks to prop up Tom Cotton. The  Citizens United  ruling opened the floodgates to out-of-state billionaires – you know their names – and they’re wasting no time trying to drown out the voices of Arkansans. They have already spent around $10 million in this race to elect a senator they know will do their bidding instead of listening to Arkansans. Robert, Exactly one year ago today, Wendy Davis took an epic, 11-hour stand before the Texas Senate, filibustering Governor Rick Perry’s extreme anti-women bill. Wendy’s stand launched a movement, pushing us all to consider the big question:  What do we stand for? One year later,  Wendy is fighting to become the first Democratic governor of Texas in decades,  and the jeers from Republican extremists have morphed into even more outlandish, sexist attacks (remember “Abortion Barbie”?). But you may be wondering, “what is the filibuster, and where did it come from?” Here's what it is, and here's why it stinks: For a vote on a bill to take place in the Senate, a few things have to happen. A bill is brought to the Floor Senators debate the bill Senators end debate Senators vote on the bill, majority wins That’s the way the Founders intended it to go, at least.  Here’s the hitch:  In 1806, Aaron Burr — yes, the one who killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel — said the Senate had too many rules and should get rid of some. One rule that got tossed in the trash can? The rule that said any senator could propose a vote that would cut off debate. Senators didn’t see a need to keep this rule on the book, so they tossed it.
