The party that wins the Senate will decide the future of health care, voting rights, even the Supreme Court.  And everyone from FiveThirtyEight to Roll Call is now saying that Democrats  cannot regain the Senate majority if we lose in New Hampshire. Dear Robert, What if there was a magic button that could overturn  Citizens United , get the word “SuperPAC” out of our national vocabulary, and drive shady money out of our political system forever? Wouldn’t you push the heck out of that button? Me, too. But there’s no such button. All we can do is fight as hard as we can to limit the influence of big money -- and one important step we can take is passing the DISCLOSE Act, a bill that would force special interest groups to tell us who’s funding their political activities. Chabot College is a rambling series of academic buildings situated on 94 acres in Hayward, California. It offers more than 100 associate degrees and certificates, an intercollegiate national championship-winning ultimate disc team, and parking for a couple thousand cars. It's also my alma mater. Chabot's a community college -- and in the early 1970s, it was all free, save for the effort you put into it and the price of used textbooks. As a student there, I went to school alongside Vietnam vets, moms, and middle-aged men, as well as a few thousand young people like me who needed time to sort out our lives and our options. We were looking to get our general education requirements out of the way, to learn skill sets to improve our employment prospects, or to discover the road to new, unimagined careers. Ted: President Obama just called out Rob Portman

Robert, President Obama just called out Rob Portman directly. During a local Ohio TV interview, President Obama urged Sen. Portman to fulfill his constitutional responsibility and grant Judge Merrick Garland a fair hearing and an up or down vote --  and said the fact that Republicans like Portman are not calling for a hearing or a vote means they’re not doing their job. I couldn't agree more with the president: It’s time for Portman and his Republican colleagues in the Senate to do their job. Republicans like Portman are backing up Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz and threatening to delay for over a year so President Obama can't fulfill his responsibility. It's a shame.
