Jim Messina: President Obama recorded a video to update supporters

The President reached an agreement with Republicans and Democrats in Congress on the "fiscal cliff" that prevents a tax hike on 98 percent of Americans and 97 percent of small businesses, while fulfilling the President's promise to ask the wealthiest Americans to begin to pay their fair share to reduce the deficit.

President Obama recorded a video to update supporters like you on what's in the agreement and what it means for you --watch it and share it with friends and family:


It's thanks to people like you who spoke up and contacted your members of Congress throughout this debate that we were able to avoid a crippling tax hike.

As we address our ongoing fiscal challenges, the President will do exactly what he said he would on the campaign trail -- working for the middle class and all those fighting to get into it, and building an economy from the middle out, not the top down.

Elizabeth: three of the closest tossup Senate races

Robert, I was just in Colorado and Iowa with Mark Udall and Bruce Braley over the weekend, and let me tell you: The people there are fighting their hearts out. We all have to do absolutely the same if we want to keep the majority in the Senate. I know you're probably getting a TON of emails right now from tight campaigns all across the country (I am too.) But I wanted to recommend three of the closest tossup Senate races in the country -- three campaigns where every dollar could make a difference: Iowa Democrat Bruce Braley is down by four points in one poll and up just one in another. Alaska Democrat Mark Begich is down by 2-6 points in the four most recent polls. And Colorado Democrat Mark Udall is in a dead heat in the most recent poll. Bob: put an end to these unfair subsidies

Robert, This makes my blood boil:  Each year, taxpayers spend BILLIONS of dollars subsidizing big oil and gas companies! These companies don’t need taxpayer dollars, period. In 2013 alone, the Big Five oil companies posted profits of $93 BILLION. But that didn’t stop the industry from lining its pockets with BILLIONS of your tax dollars that same year. No wonder the Big Five oil companies were able to pay their CEOs $125 million last year alone. What’s more, even as these often-negligent companies walk away with your hard-earned money, they pollute our air and water, hurting our families and damaging our environment! robert, Medicare is a contract we have made with every person in this country since it was signed into law 50 years ago today. That if you work hard, do your part, then when you retire Medicare is there to have your back. Through the appointments, the check ups, the medications, and anything else you might need. But Republicans want to break that contract and put the healthcare of over 50 million Americans in danger.  They want to tell seniors we don’t have the money. Find your healthcare somewhere else. You know that security you were promised? Take a hike. Republicans are falling over themselves with new plans every day to phase out and cut Medicare. Tell them you’re ready to fight back. Robert - I just left the stage at the final debate before 14 caucuses and primaries take place over the  next three weeks.  And the message I sent to those who have yet to vote is that the American people cannot afford to wait for transformational change. We’ve heard a lot of folks in the political establishment, and  tonight  on the stage, say that our ideas are too bold. That the best we can do right now is incremental change.
