Jim Messina: President Obama recorded a video to update supporters

The President reached an agreement with Republicans and Democrats in Congress on the "fiscal cliff" that prevents a tax hike on 98 percent of Americans and 97 percent of small businesses, while fulfilling the President's promise to ask the wealthiest Americans to begin to pay their fair share to reduce the deficit.

President Obama recorded a video to update supporters like you on what's in the agreement and what it means for you --watch it and share it with friends and family:


It's thanks to people like you who spoke up and contacted your members of Congress throughout this debate that we were able to avoid a crippling tax hike.

As we address our ongoing fiscal challenges, the President will do exactly what he said he would on the campaign trail -- working for the middle class and all those fighting to get into it, and building an economy from the middle out, not the top down.

Robert, Hillary Clinton gave an economic speech on Monday—where she basically promised to change little, help no one, and fix nothing if she becomes President of the United States. Instead, Hillary wants to offer you and me more of the same: more of the same lousy liberal "solutions" that have been failing the American people for the past 8 years. Bob: put an end to these unfair subsidies

Robert, This makes my blood boil:  Each year, taxpayers spend BILLIONS of dollars subsidizing big oil and gas companies! These companies don’t need taxpayer dollars, period. In 2013 alone, the Big Five oil companies posted profits of $93 BILLION. But that didn’t stop the industry from lining its pockets with BILLIONS of your tax dollars that same year. No wonder the Big Five oil companies were able to pay their CEOs $125 million last year alone. What’s more, even as these often-negligent companies walk away with your hard-earned money, they pollute our air and water, hurting our families and damaging our environment! Friend -- February was the best month ever for our campaign—we received donations from 34,025 different people for a total of $570,954.82!  The average donation was $16.78.  That’s incredible.  THANK YOU for making it happen.  We raised as much as many other major candidates for the month.   Aside from the raw numbers, which are staggering, here’s another reason I am excited.  I received this message hundreds of times via social media:  “You are the first political candidate I have ever donated to.”   This message is important.  It’s become a constant drumbeat.  And it means that we are poised to do great things. Jon: Let it go to waste

robert - President Obama is right: many of the same voices urging the United States to reject the deal with Iran in favor of a military approach were some of the loudest voices in favor of war with Iraq. Congress is home for recess now, and we need to make sure they hear your voice before returning to D.C. to take a vote. So far over 100,000 veterans, military family members, and VoteVets supporters have taken action on this issue - add your name to theirs today:  Tell Congress: vote for the negotiated deal that is our best chance to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon The vote can go either way at this point so every Representative and every Senator that comes out in favor of the deal is a major victory. Robert, This morning, Marcelle and I were proud to see how many Vermonters travelled all the way to Washington to participate in the Women’s March on Washington. And we were so pleased to see so many gather for a similar march in Montpelier this afternoon. It was an honor to join together with many thousands of women and men gathered to proclaim loudly that women’s rights are human rights -- and to make a strong statement a day after the inauguration of Donald Trump. By coming together today, Americans of all gender identities, races, faiths, sexual orientations, and immigration statuses sent a powerful message that we will continue fighting for women's rights, to protect our communities, and for progress on the issues that matter.
