Republicans in Congress have already introduced several bills to limit a woman's ability to make her own health decisions -- all in the first 48 hours of the new session.

Blatantly ignoring a clear message from voters in the 2012 elections, they hope to:

    -- Block Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funds for family planning
    -- Ban all abortions even in case of rape and incest, and possibly go as far as banning some forms of birth control and in vitro fertilization
    -- Repeal Obamacare

Here's where you come in.

As a woman, cancer survivor, and mother -- and as a Democrat who has fought tooth and nail on these issues -- I'm absolutely incensed over these latest attacks on women's health. And I'm not going to sit back and watch while Republicans try to take away our rights.

We can stop these assaults on the health and lives of millions of women in this country by doing everything in our power to keep them from gaining support. But it won't work unless you step up alongside others who believe in a woman's right to control her own body.

It's easy to think that once we re-elected the President, our work was done. But the work we do now is critical to ensuring that damaging and offensive laws like these will never make it -- and making sure Democrats are ready to beat these out-of-touch Republican candidates in the next election. Robert, I was just in Colorado and Iowa with Mark Udall and Bruce Braley over the weekend, and let me tell you: The people there are fighting their hearts out. We all have to do absolutely the same if we want to keep the majority in the Senate. I know you're probably getting a TON of emails right now from tight campaigns all across the country (I am too.) Robert, This makes my blood boil: Each year, taxpayers spend BILLIONS of dollars subsidizing big oil and gas companies! These companies don’t need taxpayer dollars, period. In 2013 alone, the Big Five oil companies posted profits of $93 BILLION. But that didn’t stop the industry from lining its pockets with BILLIONS of your tax dollars that same year. No wonder the Big Five oil companies were able to pay their CEOs $125 million last year alone. robert, Medicare is a contract we have made with every person in this country since it was signed into law 50 years ago today.
