Today's one of my favorite holidays. I get a chance to be grateful for my daughter, who made me a mom, and I take some time to remember my own mother, whom I loved very much.

President Obama knows there's no tougher job than being a mom. It's one of many things I admire about him.

An employer could decide that they couldn’t shell out the money necessary for your expensive cancer treatment because of their "moral convictions," and you’d be out of luck. Robert, I first met Russ Feingold in the 1990s, back when I was teaching in law school. The big banks and credit card companies were trying to peddle a terrible bankruptcy bill in the Senate, and I was looking for help to stop it. It's not always easy to find people willing to stand up to big financial companies in Washington. Looking back, I imagine Russ probably could have used the hefty campaign contributions he would have gotten from the banking industry if he had ignored my calls. But that didn't matter to Russ. Robert, He sides with corporations over workers. He thinks employers should be able to decide whether or not a woman has access to abortion. Robert, My uncle once wrote in a Presidential Executive Order that government contractors should  “take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin.”  He recognized the institutional and cultural barriers that many minorities faced at the time when trying to obtain employment, and how those barriers affected their upward mobility.  Today, President Trump and Jeff Sessions are attacking affirmative action and falsely alleging that these policies that work to help disadvantaged students discriminate against white students.    That is ridiculous.
