Dear Robert, We have an ambitious fundraising goal this month, so I thought I’d ask:  Would you mind making a $22.5 million contribution? Don’t worry, I’m not expecting you to say “yes.” Besides, that’s way, way more than any individual is allowed to contribute to a campaign. But, thanks to  Citizens United , some very wealthy conservative was able to write a $22.5 million check to Karl Rove’s attack ad factory. That’s more than we raised in the entire 2008 campaign! (And don’t bother asking who it was -- under the law, Rove isn’t required to disclose his new best friend’s name.) Robert, the rules have changed. And we have to be ready for the new landscape in 2014. So forget the $22.5 million --  but could you chip in $22.50?
