we can’t balance the budget on the backs of hungry kids and veterans.

Image
Robert, This holiday season, we can’t balance the budget on the backs of hungry kids and veterans. But that’s exactly what my opponent, Congressman Tom Cotton, and his reckless colleagues are out to do. The only farm bill they’ll pass cuts $40 billion from food assistance, forcing groups like children, active-duty service members and even veterans who’ve bravely served this nation to go hungry. As one Arkansas official at a food pantry put it, this “just can’t happen.” The cuts are cruel and senseless. We’ve got to speak out now and stop Rep. Cotton from pushing through these rash, irresponsible cuts that put special interests ahead of children and veterans. A vote on the farm bill is coming, so we don’t have much time. Take a moment and speak out for our neighbors in the spirit of the holidays. Click here to demand Congress protect nutrition funding so our children and veterans don’t go hungry. Rep. Cotton and the House ext...

The Alliance: Counter to Obama's Foreign Policy

Image
Dear Friend, The last few days have been incredibly successful for the Alliance for a Strong America. Americans all across the nation are standing with us as we fight back against President Obama's failed policies and the crumbling Obama Doctrine. Recently,  The Washington Post's  Jennifer Rubin published a profile of Vice President Cheney, Liz, and the mission of the Alliance and we thought you'd enjoy giving it a read: Dick and Liz Cheney Act To Counter Obama's Failed Foreign Policy Article Appeared in  The Washington Post , June 18, 2014 By Jennifer Rubin Former vice president Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz have seen quite enough of the Obama administration's foreign policy debacles. Rather than simply take to the airwaves, they have decided to do something about it and about the political environment concerning national security. The Cheneys' press release announces: "the formation and launch of The Alliance for a Strong America, a 501(c)4...

Rob: we’re tired of waiting

Image
Robert L., That’s how long we’ve been waiting for a real transportation bill. Congress has passed 33 short-term extensions of federal highway and transit funding over the past six years. That’s inexcusable. With federal transportation funding set to run out in a matter of days, the House and Senate are nowhere close to agreement on how to end the gridlock, putting us right back in the same position we were in barely two months ago. Tweet at Senate Majority Leader McConnell and House Speaker Boehner and tell them we’re tired of waiting. We need long-term transportation investments that will create jobs and economic growth now. As long as we’re on the brink of bankrupting the Highway Trust Fund every six months or so, we’re missing out on long-term investments that would create good, family-sustaining jobs, reduce traffic jams that worsen air pollution, and ensure a strong economy for our communities and families. Tweet a message to Senate Majority Leader   McConnell an...

When I ran for governor of Georgia in 2018,

Image
robert, Across this country, Republicans are turning their backs on families and hardworking people – and threatening the very character of our democracy. That's why it's never been more important for Democrats to win back the Senate majority this November. The path to Senate control runs through New Hampshire – but right now, right-wing Republicans are spending millions of dollars to defeat Jeanne Shaheen.  That's why I'm reaching out to you today:   With Senate control at stake, will you give $3 or more before midnight to help Jeanne hit her critical end-of-month goal, defend New Hampshire's Senate seat and take back the Senate for Democrats? When I ran for governor of Georgia in 2018, I witnessed firsthand the GOP's attempts to force Democratic voices into silence. My right-wing opponent did everything he could to prevent thousands of voters from being heard at the ballot box.  As we get closer to the November election, this is happening again across the co...

Patrick: If it's what you say I love it

Image
Robert, Donald Trump Jr.'s emails released yesterday are explicit. The president's son was offered a meeting with a Russian lawyer for information that "would incriminate Hillary" as part of "Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump." Trump Jr. responded:  "If it's what you say I love it" Paul Manafort, then President Trump's campaign chairman, and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and Senior White House Adviser, joined Trump Jr. for the meeting. This news is deeply disturbing, and only the latest in a series of shifting denials, changed stories, and cascading lies around members of the Trump campaign and administration's contacts with Russia. We all know that the Trump campaign was led by zealots who would stop at nothing to get Trump elected. But it's still shocking to see the actual Trump Jr. emails, and that they would go so far as to knowingly work with an enemy of the United States to influe...

Annette: Why i came to America

Image
Dear Robert, I know that your inbox is filling up quickly with fundraising emails. That’s why I wanted to go ahead and let you know now that this is not one of those emails. I’m not going to ask you to chip in to my campaign now before any “critical deadline,” nor am I going to ask you to help me unlock a triple match. Instead I want to share a personal story. It's a little long, but I think it's very important to let you know what I think truly matters right now. I came to the United States when I was 17 years old, after my father was kidnapped by the FARC, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. Although my father was American, and had served in World War II and the Korean War as a U.S. Air Force Pilot, Colombia was the only home I had ever known, and Spanish the only language I was used to speaking. It didn’t take long for me to realize that the English I had studied in school was not enough to make me fluent, as such, I struggled to get into college. But I wa...

Chuck: two seats

Image
Robert, Democrats are supposed to be back on our heels this year. We're supposed to have our hands full defending crucial Senate seats in the South. And we are working hard indeed to re-elect people like Mary Landrieu in Louisiana and Mark Pryor in Arkansas, real leaders in red states. But we're also going on offense -- in the South. Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes is in a strong position to defeat Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in Kentucky, and Democrat Michelle Nunn will have a real chance to win an open seat in Georgia. Because Grimes' and Nunn's primaries are on May 20th, they have an unusual reporting deadline -- tonight at midnight. Contribute $5 today to help them show strong support. A victory by Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes over Mitch McConnell would help Democrats maintain control of the Senate. It would give us another great woman senator committed to creating jobs, ensuring equal pay for equal wo...

Madeleine K. Albright: I want you to experience the same southern hospitality that Charlotte has to offer

Dear robert l., Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Charlotte, North Carolina in my role as Chair of the National Democratic  Institute (NDI). Since 1984, NDI has organized an International Leaders Forum at every Democratic Convention, bringing hundreds of visitors from across the globe to the U.S. to observe our political process. After exploring the city and meeting local residents, it is easy to see why President Obama picked North Carolina to host the 2012 Democratic National Convention. I want you to experience the same southern hospitality that Charlotte has to offer. Whether you come as a delegate or as an observer, you should experience this city during the convention. If you give $5 or whatever you can right now, you will be automatically entered to win free airfare and accommodations for the week of the convention. You will be here on Labor Day for a Celebration of the Carolinas at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and in attendance at Bank of America stadium t...

Click here to see photos from this inspiring and uplifting event. In addition to presenting Gabby with the 2012 We Are EMILY Award -- for her courage, commitment, and leadership -- we also announced the creation of the Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award.
