Tom Harkin: support for Rep. Markey today.

Support Ed Markey!
Together you and I have made tremendous progress in raising awareness about the proposed cuts to Social Security known as the "chained CPI." I'm so proud of what we've accomplished, and I know that we will keep working to hold the line in the weeks and months to come.
But right now, we have a major opportunity to make that firewall even stronger. We need to make sure Ed Markey joins me in the Senate by winning the Massachusetts special election in less than two weeks.
Rep. Markey firmly opposes the chained CPI, and will stand with me to fight Social Security cuts that only serve to weaken the middle class. He is the kind of proven progressive we need more of in the Senate, and I hope you'll join me in supporting his campaign today.
Ed's opponent, Gabriel Gomez, has vocally supported the chained CPI and believes we need to slash taxes even further for wealthy investment executives like him. And just like Scott Brown before him, he will be just one more reliable, conservative vote ready to grind the people's business to a halt.
In 2010, outside groups poured money into helping Scott Brown pull off an upset victory in Massachusetts as part of their strategy to derail health care reform. Now, again, outside groups have cut Rep. Markey's lead by 10 points, hoping to use this election as a springboard to slash Social Security and pursue other radical conservative priorities.
The challenges we face are too great to let that happen -- especially when we have a chance to elect a real progressive who will stand with me and with his fellow Massachusetts Senator, Elizabeth Warren, as we fight for the middle class.
Last year, progressives joined together to make sure Elizabeth Warren beat Scott Brown, and now she has joined me in the fight to put the middle class first.
Ed Markey is the partner Senator Warren and I need to keep fighting and winning for progressive priorities. But we also need your strong, progressive, grassroots support today to make sure Ed Markey wins on June 25.
He needs us to get his back.
Protecting Social Security is going to take a huge effort -- both in the Senate and beyond. Having a strong, dedicated progressive like Ed Markey by my side will make a huge difference in winning that fight.

Dear Robert, What if there was a magic button that could overturn  Citizens United , get the word “SuperPAC” out of our national vocabulary, and drive shady money out of our political system forever? Robert, We had another strong performance at the debate tonight in Fayetteville. Once again, we showed where Tom Cotton's priorities lie: With the out-of-state billionaires bankrolling his campaign. This year, his backers have spent over $20 million trying to buy this election. Why?  Because they know they can count on Tom Cotton. That's the difference in this race.
