Today, we mourn for all the victims of the latest terrorist attack in Brussels. As Ted Cruz said this morning:
 
 
 
 
“Today radical Islamic terrorists targeted the men and women of Brussels as they went to work on a spring morning. In a series of coordinated attacks they murdered and maimed dozens of innocent commuters at subway stations and travelers at the airport.
 
“For the terrorists, the identities of the victims were irrelevant. They –we—are all part of an intolerable culture that they have vowed to destroy.
 
“For years, the west has tried to deny this enemy exists out of a combination of political correctness and fear. We can no longer afford either.
 
“The days of the United States voluntarily surrendering to the enemy to show how progressive and enlightened we can be are at an end. Our country is at stake.”

    I have exciting news, Robert: On Tuesday, President Obama announced a  permanent  ban on Arctic drilling, a groundbreaking move which will protect this pristine region and its sensitive ecosystems for decades to come. You did this, Robert : This announcement is the direct result of citizen advocacy like the petition you and I and thousands of others signed to protect the Arctic Ocean from gas and oil drilling.  Together, we stood up for our planet by calling for a ban on Arctic drilling – and our efforts have paid off. There’s no doubt Donald Trump will try to undo this ban – and while the law is clearly on our side,  we must remain vigilant and ready to block any attempt at reversing President Obama’s decision. This contest in the Show Me State might be the dark-horse contest to watch. --  NPR , 5/2/2016 Friends, “Dark horse.” “Sleeping giant.” The press is running out of metaphors to describe how tight this race has become. Of course, there are more good ones. Like “photo finish”, as in how close this race could be come Election Day --  especially now that Donald Trump is at the top of the Republican ticket for president. Or “buried in mud,” as in what Super PACs and special interests hope to do to me before November. Or “work to the bone,”  which is what we’re going to do to hit our $55,000 goal -- and every other goal we have -- in order to keep fighting and win this thing. I'm proud to support it, and I hope you are, too. Under the administration's guidance, immigration courts are going to focus on deporting people who have been convicted of crimes or who pose a security risk. This means that the courts will focus less on "low-priority" cases -- like young people who were brought here as small children and know no other home, or veterans and military spouses. So the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice will be reviewing the current deportation caseload, clearing out low-priority cases, and making sure they don't get into the system in the first place -- keeping the focus on cases that will make our country safer. I spent the day hiking through Exit Glacier in the Kenai Fjords National Park — where the mountains collide with the ocean and fields of ice.
