There's nothing wrong with an old-fashioned victory lap.
President Obama's decision not to include chained CPI in this year's White House budget is a huge victory for those of us who have fought to protect Social Security from cuts that would hurt our seniors.
Social Security is safe -- for now. But you and I know that there will always be people in Washington who want to look out for themselves instead of the majority of Americans, keeping the minimum wage low and cutting Social Security to pay for misguided trickle-down tax cuts that only hurt our economy. 
That's why TomPAC is here: to help elect people who share your commitment to fighting income inequality by protecting Social Security and raising the minimum wage. But we can't do it without your help.
The end of the month is almost here, and that means we have a big fundraising goal we need to reach before our bill to increase the minimum wage comes up in the Senate in March: $5,000. If you want to keep protecting Social Security and raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, the time to act is now.
President Obama made the right decision in dropping Social Security cuts from his budget proposal. He had a lot of people telling him cuts were the only way. But he also had a lot of people telling him no way, no how -- and those people were TomPAC supporters and the people we've helped elect.
Help from supporters allowed me and other senators and representatives supported by TomPAC to take a leadership role in shutting down the attacks on Social Security. That's why we won. That's why we're celebrating.
I wish I could say this was just another partisan issue, but it's not. There are a lot of people in my own party, and a whole lot of Washington pundits, who long for a "grand bargain." Funny how these grand bargains always seem to leave seniors and future generations holding the bill.
Let's make sure we keep sending people to Washington to stand between Social Security and those who would tear it down. The end-of-month deadline is almost here, so please help today.

What is 4th of July to Fort Smith Arkansas. When we still have Confederate monuments downtown. Where they have annual bike rallies in which they sell Confederate flags. When Confederates put flags on their trucks and intimidate our children up and down our streets. When Confederate flags wave through the neighborhoods of our children that are walking home from school. Where their dogs are barking at our children to harrass and terrorized them until  they cannot move and we as adults have to stand and tell them that everything is okay. What is 4th of July to Fort Smith Arkansas. When we have a black mayor who does nothing for his own race and will celebrate America's Independence and ignore his own Freedom day that Juneteenth represents. The same mayor that used the platform of integration and segregation as a reason to be elected. And that same segregation and integration that is represented in Juneteenth was avoided. Dear Black Independent,  Americans have taken a turn over the last few years from mindless to mindful celebration of our holidays. On Memorial Day, we do not distract ourselves from the deeper meaning of the day, but rather allow ourselves to take in the full weight of its significance. On this day every year, we remember those who throughout our history have lost their lives serving in the US military. For centuries, since our earliest beginnings, there have been those who lay down their lives for this country. Some of them are remembered for who they were while they were alive, while some have names and lives that have been lost and forgotten, buried beneath the sands of time.
