Stop the Boehner Block

Dear robert l.,

We know House Speaker John Boehner loves to block progressive legislation – but now he’s outdoing himself! 

He’s trying to block legislation that has already become law. 


Boehner and his Tea Party friends are planning to vote to repeal the portion of the health care reform law that FINALLY guarantees every American has affordable health care.

We can’t let him get away with this.

Last week, tens of thousands of 21st Century Democrats signed petitions to Boehner – telling him to stop getting in the way of Democratic efforts to create a more just, fair and equal America for everyone. 

Let’s do it again – let’s send a loud, clear message that it’s time to STOP THE BOEHNER BLOCK.

BREAKING NEWS: Senate Republicans are pushing the Blunt Amendment, a radical piece of legislation that would cannibalize health care reform by letting any employer deny any part of your heath care coverage due to “moral convictions.” Robert, this goes way beyond taking away birth control coverage. An employer could decide that they couldn’t shell out the money necessary for your expensive cancer treatment because of their "moral convictions," and you’d be out of luck. Their goal isn’t just to end contraception coverage. Their goal is to implode our entire health care system and strike a deadly blow to President Obama’s historic health care reform. Everything we've worked for, month after month, will be put to the test and the American people will begin to decide whether or not Dr. Ben Carson becomes President Ben Carson. As someone who has spent my life serving my country, I would not trust just anyone to be our Commander-in-Chief. Why I filibustered for gun violence prevention Friend --  I was the Congressman from Newtown, Connecticut when tragedy struck Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14th, 2012. As long as I live, I’ll never forget the scene at the firehouse when twenty-six families were told they would not be reunited with their children and loved ones.  For years, Congress has failed those families and the victims of gun violence all across the country.  That is why yesterday, starting at 11:21 a.m., I decided to stand on the Senate floor and talk for as long as I could about the need to prevent gun violence.
