Dear Patriot, Our country is running a deficit, a very serious deficit. We are fiscally broke and there is no end in sight to curb the limitless spending in Washington. I am outraged by the waste that pollutes our government. It makes my blood boil to see money that should be spent defending our country instead being wasted. And that's why I need your help to make sure I am reelected to continute my fight against this fiscal insanity . I have argued for years that we must not borrow money from China to give to Pakistan. Just this month I led the fight on the Senate floor to stop the United States from spending 300 million dollars of your taxpayer money to fund F16 fighter planes, which were being subsidized for Pakistan.     I have exciting news, Robert: On Tuesday, President Obama announced a  permanent  ban on Arctic drilling, a groundbreaking move which will protect this pristine region and its sensitive ecosystems for decades to come. You did this, Robert : This announcement is the direct result of citizen advocacy like the petition you and I and thousands of others signed to protect the Arctic Ocean from gas and oil drilling.  Together, we stood up for our planet by calling for a ban on Arctic drilling – and our efforts have paid off. There’s no doubt Donald Trump will try to undo this ban – and while the law is clearly on our side,  we must remain vigilant and ready to block any attempt at reversing President Obama’s decision. This contest in the Show Me State might be the dark-horse contest to watch. --  NPR , 5/2/2016 Friends, “Dark horse.” “Sleeping giant.” The press is running out of metaphors to describe how tight this race has become. Of course, there are more good ones. Like “photo finish”, as in how close this race could be come Election Day --  especially now that Donald Trump is at the top of the Republican ticket for president. Or “buried in mud,” as in what Super PACs and special interests hope to do to me before November. Or “work to the bone,”  which is what we’re going to do to hit our $55,000 goal -- and every other goal we have -- in order to keep fighting and win this thing. If we’re going to keep up our success, we cannot let a single goal go unmet. Can you chip in $5, $10 or more to get us to this $55,000 May goal? Washington is broken. Missouri families know that. Friend -- I wanted to make sure you saw the news: Today President Obama announced a common-sense policy change that will make our immigration system fairer and smarter. I'm proud to support it, and I hope you are, too. Under the administration's guidance, immigration courts are going to focus on deporting people who have been convicted of crimes or who pose a security risk. This means that the courts will focus less on "low-priority" cases -- like young people who were brought here as small children and know no other home, or veterans and military spouses. So the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice will be reviewing the current deportation caseload, clearing out low-priority cases, and making sure they don't get into the system in the first place -- keeping the focus on cases that will make our country safer. It's a smart, strategic change. And it will make a difference. But more comprehensive change requires Congress to act. ...

Barack: You just can’t see Alaska in three days.

The President is touring through Alaska this week, meeting with residents of the state and seeing the effects of climate change on the ground. He's sharing what he sees along the way. Right off the bat, I’ll note that I’ve got to come back here once I’m done being President. You just can’t see Alaska in three days. I spent the day hiking through Exit Glacier in the Kenai Fjords National Park — where the mountains collide with the ocean and fields of ice. When the team handed over the camera, I did my best to do this place justice: Visitors from around the world come here to see its Harding Icefield — one of the largest ice fields in the United States — covering hundreds of square miles.
