When asked recently about passing H.R. 1/S. 1, the historic voting rights legislation in Congress (also known as the For The People Act), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said this:

“I would say the deadline for S. 1 is … probably by August or so. We’re consulting with experts. When is the latest that S. 1 can undo some of the despicable and frankly racist changes that some of these Republican legislatures have made?”

That’s not only a deadline for passing critical voting protections for the entire country; it’s a deadline for getting rid of the filibuster — because we can’t pass S. 1 through the Senate without doing away with the archaic, racist filibuster.

Justice Democrats has been working hard with progressive lawmakers and groups like Sunrise Movement to end the filibuster. Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and several other Democrats have voiced support for getting rid of it. But the clock is ticking, and we need to amp up the pressure on Senate Democrats.

Black Independent Party, free, fair, and accessible elections in 2022 are on the line. Can you join us, Bernie, Sen. Warren, and Sunrise Movement, in this push to get rid of the filibuster? Chipping in $3 or more supports our work to end the GOP minority rule.

That if you work hard, do your part, then when you retire Medicare is there to have your back. Through the appointments, the check ups, the medications, and anything else you might need. But Republicans want to break that contract and put the healthcare of over 50 million Americans in danger.  They want to tell seniors we don’t have the money. Find your healthcare somewhere else. Bob: put an end to these unfair subsidies

Robert, This makes my blood boil:  Each year, taxpayers spend BILLIONS of dollars subsidizing big oil and gas companies! These companies don’t need taxpayer dollars, period. In 2013 alone, the Big Five oil companies posted profits of $93 BILLION. But that didn’t stop the industry from lining its pockets with BILLIONS of your tax dollars that same year. No wonder the Big Five oil companies were able to pay their CEOs $125 million last year alone. What’s more, even as these often-negligent companies walk away with your hard-earned money, they pollute our air and water, hurting our families and damaging our environment! Bernie: the American people cannot afford to wait for transformational change.

Robert - I just left the stage at the final debate before 14 caucuses and primaries take place over the  next three weeks.  And the message I sent to those who have yet to vote is that the American people cannot afford to wait for transformational change. We’ve heard a lot of folks in the political establishment, and  tonight  on the stage, say that our ideas are too bold. That the best we can do right now is incremental change. But as my dear friend Senator Nina Turner has said,  "the future of our country is too important to go from yes we can to no we can’t."
