Organizing for Action is looking for dedicated and talented people to join the Summer Organizing Fellowship, a three-month program that will train the next generation of OFA leaders.

You're getting this email because we think you know someone who could be a great fit -- maybe it's your friend or colleague, or maybe it's you!

Apply now -- or share this link -- to get started as an OFA summer fellow. We have a lot of spots to fill, and we're counting on you to help find the best candidates.

So many grassroots leaders got their start in a program just like this.

Summer organizing fellows will learn everything they need to know about organizing for change on both the national and local levels, and will play a major role in supporting and growing volunteer-led chapters across the country.

Organizing Fellows are especially critical right now. We have a real opportunity to pass so much of the agenda we fought for and Americans voted for last fall -- on comprehensive immigration reform, gun violence prevention, strengthening the middle class and much more. This summer is our chance to make real progress.

Fellows will work long hours, and these positions are unpaid. But if you're accepted, you'll come away with an invaluable set of skills -- like recruiting volunteers, working with the media, grassroots fundraising, and using digital tools -- and a network of friends and colleagues that will be lifelong assets.

Dear friend, Yesterday, I visited Jackson Park, the future home of the Obama Presidential Center, and surprised some of the Center’s future neighbors.  Take a look. We can’t wait to bring this Center to the South Side. For Michelle and me, this project is about more than building a gathering space and museum—it’s an opportunity to bring jobs, investment, and economic opportunity to a neighborhood that’s given us so much.  But we also know that to be successful, this project needs to not just be for the community, it must be built in partnership with the community.    That’s why, this week, I spent time with local business owners at South Shore Brew coffee shop and got to hear from them directly about their hopes for the Center.  I also stopped by the Wolfpack youth football team’s practice and talked to some of the kids who use Jackson Park every day. Friend -- I wanted to make sure you saw the news: Today President Obama announced a common-sense policy change that will make our immigration system fairer and smarter. I'm proud to support it, and I hope you are, too. Under the administration's guidance, immigration courts are going to focus on deporting people who have been convicted of crimes or who pose a security risk. This means that the courts will focus less on "low-priority" cases -- like young people who were brought here as small children and know no other home, or veterans and military spouses. So the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice will be reviewing the current deportation caseload, clearing out low-priority cases, and making sure they don't get into the system in the first place -- keeping the focus on cases that will make our country safer. Millions of transgender people still face discrimination

    Friend, did you see the news? One of my first actions as a Congresswoman was to display a transgender pride flag outside my office. I did so to show the trans community -- which includes friends and family of mine -- that they are seen, heard, and not erased. Today, we must recommit our efforts toward protecting the rights of transgender Americans. Dangerous misinformation has been amplified by right-wing politicians and media figures, resulting in a disturbing series of state legislative actions across the country that target the healthcare and well-being of trans youth. Last month, I was named a co-chair of the Transgender Equality Task Force, an arm of the Congressional LGTBQ+ Equality Caucus that is advocating for legislative and administrative action to ensure that the trans community is treated with dignity and respect.
