destruction of democracy in Texas

Robert,

This week, I’m in Washington, D.C. to urge members of congress to take action and pass the For the People Act. Over the last few years, Republicans have absolutely decimated voting rights protections in states across the country, and our national representatives have done little to stand in their way.

The stakes are too high for us to sit on the sidelines and do nothing. There is no time for the Senate to play the long game when it comes to voting rights--this is a direct threat to the one thing that has always set America apart: our democracy. Partisan politics have crept into the redistricting process which forms the very basis of our electoral system. This is not only unacceptable, but it will continue to destroy Americans’ faith in our political system if we simply stand by and watch.

Today, I’ll be on Capitol Hill as a speaker at the #RecessCanWait rally to call upon Congress to delay recess until the For the People Act is passed. I’m proud to stand with the Democratic members of the Texas state legislature in their brave bid to stop the destruction of democracy in Texas, and I believe that we must do the same for Florida. I will do whatever it takes to ensure that every citizen of Florida maintains the right to vote for generations to come.

Democracy can’t wait for Congressional recess to end. Join me in this fight by signing our petition to protect voting rights here

Yours in the fight,

Annette Taddeo
