Friends, The deadly act of terrorism in Orlando last night is a national tragedy felt by all of us. Today, I extend a special thought and prayer to the families of those killed and injured. This is the worst mass shooting in American history — but it is not the first. It’s one more heartbreaking reminder that hatred and violence leads us to grief and sadness. It’s one more reminder that things must change. This morning, after hearing the news, I marched in the Pittsburgh LGBT Pride Parade. It was a heartening moment to be among so many people — of all orientations, genders, and backgrounds — coming together after such a tragedy. This is the spirit we must look to.
