February was just non-stop action -- new EMILY's List candidate endorsements like Wendy Greuel in California and Kathleen Rice in New York, massive spending by the GOP and outside groups run by Karl Rove and the Koch brothers, House retirements, milestones in our Political Opportunity Program… the list goes on and on.
We're so proud that you're standing with us. Seriously -- without your support, we wouldn't have a 29 year history of electing powerful pro-choice Democratic women to office up and down the ballot. Women who aren't afraid to fight the tough battles. Women who are willing to put literally everything on the line to protect our rights.

We were taken aback when we heard that Koch brother-founded Americans for Prosperity dumped more than $8  million in to advertising to defeat Kay Hagan. And it's only February! The EMILY's List community jumped to the front lines to help Kay compete with the highest GOP spending from outside groups we've seen this cycle.
Political Opportunity Program trains its 1,000th candidate this cycle
The EMILY's List Political Opportunity Program (POP) -- an arm of our organization that prepares pro-choice Democratic women to run for office at the states and local levels -- and we trained our 1,000th candidate for the 2014 cycle this February! Thanks to you, POP held trainings for likely candidates in cities across the country -- Raleigh, North Carolina; Denver, Colorado; and Des Moines, Iowa. Pretty impressive for the shortest month of the year!

      Robert, I need more Democratic women in the House. Women like Staci Appel and Emily Cain who won't let the Republicans' ol' boys club continue to block all productivity in Congress. But the GOP and its allies are ramping up their spending to attack these amazing candidates and more women just like them. We need your help if we're going to win on Election Day. Russ: women across the country -- don't deserve unnecessary attacks

Robert -- This is indefensible. This week, Governor Scott Walker signed two bills that would take millions of dollars in funding from Planned Parenthood. These bills are a clear attack on a woman's right to affordable, quality health care. Governor Walker and Senator Ron Johnson threaten the lives of women every time they take steps to defund Planned Parenthood. In fact, Senator Johnson last year supported a 20-week abortion ban and voted again to defund Planned Parenthood. These attacks on women's health are wrong. But they're not going to stop until Republicans like Senator Johnson and Governor Walker are out of office. Jon Carson: fewer dangerous people will be able to obtain guns. Period.

Robert -- Something big happened in the Senate this week: The Judiciary Committee voted to move forward on a bill that would make universal background checks the law for all gun sales. That's hugely important for one simple reason: If Congress goes on to pass this bill, fewer dangerous people will be able to obtain guns. Period. It should be a no-brainer. This is something that 92 percent of Americans -- and a whopping 74 percent of NRA members -- support. So let's get this done. We're going to need to keep the pressure on our elected officials by raising our voices together and saying "It's time." It has been more than seven years since the state minimum wage was raised – years that included the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, even as the cost of living continued to climb. Mark Pryor, Mark Udall and Mark Begich are all polling within single digits – and if they lose their re-election fights, our majority is gone. Pryor barely leads Rep. Tom Cotton, a Tea Party darling backed by right-wing groups like the Club for Growth who’ve already spent $1.8 million smearing Mark. Udall polls just three points ahead of extremist Ken Buck. And Begich is only single digits up over a field including Sarah Palin favorite Joe Miller. I’ve set a goal of $45,000 to help Sens. Robert -- I never expected to run for office. Ask around Washington, and nobody will tell you that the best way to get elected is by spending your career picking a fight with Wall Street. So when I decided to run against Scott Brown for the Senate seat in Massachusetts, I knew I wanted to run a grassroots campaign powered by people, not by powerful interests. The same sort of campaign that my friend Howard Dean ran in 2004. But I needed some help getting started.  I was so grateful when DFA got behind our campaign early on, not only endorsing me but making me one of their "Dean Dozen" candidates.  DFA members across Massachusetts and around the country donated more than $300,000 of their hard-earned money and volunteered hundreds of hours to make sure I could continue our fight for the middle class in the Senate.
